Abundant Life at Peacehaven
The Honeybees
At the farm, four beehives are set under a beautiful old tree, facing the garden and the early morning sun.
There are many approaches and theories about the best beekeeping practices. But as the Penn State report indicates…
“ bees thrive where there is plant diversity, a stable, local, natural habitat, and no pesticides.”
Fabian, a group of ladies from the Cancer Support Group and I will be taking care of the bees, our approach to the bees will be as natural as it is our approach to the garden as well.
The chickens
The chickens are raised on green grass and sunshine.
They are given free access to fresh grass, soil, insects and fresh air. They are allowed to roam free, scratch, forage, take dust baths and bask in the sun.
Happy hens make better eggs!!
The Garden
The garden at Peacehaven Community Farm is the welcome point to everybody who comes to the farm, laid right beside the huge barn, the garden which consist in 4 garden plots of about 24 beds each not only grows vegetables it also grows hope, nourishment and community.
The garden practices follow organic strategies and sustainable methods, our main purposes to have the best vegetables is to have good soil. Nourishing the soil in the way nature intends is our goal.
